Director's Note
Welcome to Queers.
The history of LGBTQ+ equality in the UK has been hard fought. From the publication of the Wolfenden Report in 1957, which recommended the decriminalisation of homosexuality, to the partial decriminalisation of sex between men in England and Wales in 1967, where the age of consent remained higher than for heterosexual couples until finally being equalised at 16 in 2001 and the introduction of same-sex marriage in England and Wales in 2014, progress has never been inevitable. Every step forward has been achieved through courage, activism and the determination of those who refused to be silenced.
While these milestones transformed countless lives, Pride remains as much about advocacy as it is celebration. At a time when LGBTQ+ rights continue to be challenged around the world and many queer people still face discrimination, isolation and prejudice, telling authentic queer stories on stage has never been more important.
It has been an absolute privilege and a true joy to work alongside this exceptional cast and crew, to bring these rich, unforgettable characters and their stories to life.

Something Borrowed - Steve
Founder of Peppercorn Theatre, Phil has performed extensively on stage, immersive theatre through to open air theatre, as well as on screen. Phil has played leading roles in productions such as The Elephant In the Room (The Showman), Bite Size Theatre (Various), Ghost Stories Theatre, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Grandpa Joe), Queers (Steve), By Jeeves (Berty Wooster), Frankenstein (The Creature), Blithe Spirit (Charles Condomine), Hedda Gabler (Jogen Tesman), Accidental Death of an Anarchist (Maniac), The 39 Steps (Clown), and Macbeth (McDuff).
Phil is delighted to be working on Queers with Thick of Thieves.

Missing Alice - Alice
Founder of NYX Theatre, Sam is a theatre maker, actress and singer with over 30 years experience. Having run Kids stage schools, directed full scale productions and performed in a wide variety of productions. Playing characters as wide ranging as Fagin, to Madame Arcati, a high court lawyer to a serial killer! Part of Ghost Stories Theatre, she sings with ‘Diva’ and has performed in ‘Baby Hurts’ a brand new stage musical and toured Sondheim and Julie Andrews in Practically Perfect’.
Sam is absolutely thrilled to be working with Thick of Thieves and such a talented group of actors on this wonderful and very important project.
Lee Payne
The Safest Spot In Town - Fredrick
Lee Payne is an internationally acclaimed performer, choreographer, director, actor, and creative artist known for his dynamic work in tap and physical storytelling. He spent 11 years as lead tap dancer with Riverdance, performing across Europe, the Far East, and the UK. His credits include the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, Swing at the Cotton Club, guest appearances with Diversity, and Got to Dance. Lee featured in the BalletBoyz and Channel 4 short film Give Me Back My Shine, which won Best Short Film at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards and over 25 international awards. He was also a creative artist and motion capture performer on Stina and the Wolf. Alongside performing, Lee is an accomplished choreographer and educator, creating work and inspiring emerging talent.
Colin Rogers-March
I Miss The War - Jack
Colin hails from Nottingham ‘The Queen of The Midlands’ ( The city’s nick name before you start tittering). Studying Drama at Manchester Metropolitan cemented his love of theatre and performance.
Colin’s background is predominantly in Musical Theatre, concerts and Cabaret including a brief spell as an Elton John Tribute act! Favourite roles are Moonface in Anything Goes,Daddy Warbucks in Annie,Bill in Me and My Girl and Freddie in My Fair Lady. He’s also had enormous satisfaction and success producing Shows with Sweet Charity, Hello Dolly and The Music Man being highlights.
Colin has performed with BGMC , Resound and The Rainbow chorus. Joining Brighton Little three years ago he’s had a marvellous time appearing in Shakespeare in Love as Ralph/Juliet’s Nurse, Trinculo in The Tempest and, his favourite part ever, as Giles Corey in The Crucible .
Colin is excited to be working with the superb cast in Queers
Jake Marchant
More Anger - Phil
Jake is an actor with experience across touring productions, fringe theatre, and community performance. He appears in the ongoing touring production of the suspenseful Ghost Stories.
He performed in Brighton Fringe's Duty, after his initial appearance (which is to be reprised) in Queers at Brighton Little Theatre. They also appeared in Southwick Players' production of the classic comedy thriller Deathtrap.
Jimmy Schofield
A Grand Day Out - Andrew
Jimmy has been acting for over two years in local theatre, having made his debut in Brighton Little Theatre’s production of ‘Queers’ in 2024. Since then, he has taken on many roles for various companies, including ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’ (Southwick Players, 2025), ‘Jane Eyre’ (BLT, 2026, Brighton Fringe ‘Outstanding Theatre’ Award Winner) and notably in the two hander ‘Bobby and Amy’ (BLT, 2025). Fittingly, this will be his last local performance before going to Rose Bruford college in September to begin studying a BA Acting for screen and devised theatre course.
Jimmy says this character and script has become incredibly close to his heart, and hopes that will come across to the audience in his performance. He says it has been a delight as always working with Nettie and ‘Thick As Thieves’, and hopes you enjoy the show as much as he’s enjoyed being part of it.
